Vintage Stratton Queen Convertible Compact
Vintage Stratton Queen convertible powder compact.
A lovely 1970s Stratton 'Queen' convertible compact that was one of Stratton's most successfull shapes recognised by the scalloped edges.
The gold tone metal case with enamelled lid features a wonderful design of a basket overflowing with colourful yellow, tangerine, blue and green flowers and a green and yellow border intersected again with tangerine flowers on a white background. On the reverse, the gold tone scolloped edge is highly polished and the flat base has an engine turned pattern of vertical lines with arrow nicks pointing to the left.
The Stratton ENGLAND logo is also engraved into a centre cartouche of the base. On opening the compact via the release catch, there is a clear round mirror in the lid and a gold tone ring in the base to contain the powder well contents with the PAT. number of 764125 beneath the inner hinge. To release the inner ring you slide the catch to the right to access the original mesh sifter and foam backed powder puff. Also included is the original paper circle instruction on how to use the 'convertible' comapct for either loose or pressed powder.
The compact is in excellent unused vintage condition with all of its original components mentioned above, along with its original black fabric pochette and Stratton box.
