This vintage Stratton 'convertible' compact is unused and still in its original box with black pouch.

The round compact itself has an enamelled blue engined turned engraved pattern on the gold tone front made form a number of leaf shaped gold indentations in a series of six circles, which give a starburst impression. The reverse side has a pattern made up of vertical lines with small arrow nicks pointing to the left, with the 'Stratton Made in England' logo in the centre.

The inside of the compact has a patent number (AT764125) stamped near to the main hinge and the base holds the self release powder section that also holds the original powder puff and sifter for loose powder. The original paper instruction is also still intact stating that the compact can be used for both solid and loose powder. The mirror is also as new.

Overall the compact is made from gold tone metal which shines like new and the internal and external hinges are all in excellent working order.
