A lovely musical KIGU powder compact from the minuette series fitted with a swiss movement that plays Brahms Waltz.

The Kigu powder compact is in gold tone metal, oval in shape with a scalloped edge base and a slightly domed lid. The lid has an engine turned pattern with a series of vertical striped bands and flowers with a blank cartouche in the centre.

The base has the KIGU trademark emblem to its centre.

Inside, the lid contains a clear oval mirror, which still has the original sticker attached regarding the musical movement. Above the mirror, on the inner rim, it is stamped with the word PATENTED and below the mirror, MADE IN ENGLAND. The original pink oval instruction sheet for how to use the musical movement and its registration information regarding design and patent number is also intact. The base of the powder compact holds the musical movement on the right hand side, which is in good working order and the housing of the movement is engine turned with a simple patten and the 'Minuette' logo.

To the left is the D-shaped powder well with the spill proof inner guard lid. This is again engraved beautifully with a lovely pattern and the KIGU emblem in the centre. By sliding the catch down, you release the inner guard and access the loose powder well. This appears to have never been used and contains the original unused mesh sifter. The original unused powder puff is also intact and sits on top of the closed inner guard.

All of the hinges and catches are in excellent working order and although there is some minor wear due to handling over the years, this vintage powder compact is in very good vintage condition.

It also comes with its original drawstring pouch  and cream KIGU box, which is now showing signs of 'shabby chic'.

Overall a fabulous collectors piece or unusual gift for someone special.
