Another lovely musical KIGU powder compact from the minuette series fitted with a swiss movement that plays a beautiful tune, which we think is Brahms Waltz.

The compact is in gold tone metal, oval in shape with a scalloped edge base and a slightly domed lid. The lid has an engine turned pattern with a series of leaf-scrolls and flowers backed by leaves with a blank cartouche in the centre. The base has the KIGU trademark emblem to its centre.

Inside, the lid contains a clear oval mirror. Above the mirror, on the inner rim, it is stamped with the word PATENTED and below the mirror, MADE IN ENGLAND. The base of the compact holds the musical movement on the right hand side, which is in good working order and the housing of the movement is engine turned with a simple patten and the 'Minuette' logo.

To the left is the D-shaped powder well with the spill proof inner guard lid. This is again engraved beautifully with a lovely pattern and the KIGU emblem in the centre. By sliding the catch down, you release the inner guard and access the loose powder well. This shows some signs of wear from previous use, but does not distract from it's overall very good condition and does still retain it's original mesh sifter in excellant condition.

All of the hinges and catches and the musical movement are in excellent working order and although there is some minor wear due to handling over the years, the compact is in very good vintage condition.

Unfortunatley it does not have it's original box. Overall a fabulous collectors piece or beautiful gift for someone special.
