This is a gorgeous vintage Matisse maple leaf brooch in a rich burgandy colour.

The Matisse brooch is made from copper which has then been enameled in this autumn rich colour which shades to black around the base of the leaf, and the depth of colour and the enamelling is a good example of the naturalistic style which Matisse jewellery was famous for.

The leaf design is enhanced by a copper swirl and the back is signed with the Matisse signiture in the geometric script with the © mark behind the back pin. The latter dates the piece to at least 1954, which is when the copyright mark begun to be used.

The clasp also has a security roll over to ensure safty whilst wearing such a lovely piece.

Good vintage condition.
